Jim Cook, Director, Volutio
During a career that has spanned three decades, Jim Cook has assembled a skill set that ranges from deep technical understanding through business strategy to investor relations. He has a strong pedigree in strategic management, product marketing and business development with relevant work experience in a variety of software sectors including Enterprise Content Management, Workflow and Lifecycle Management, Information Publishing and Document Management.

Jim Cook was co-founder of CDC Solutions, a key player in the Life Sciences sector that Jim successfully nurtured through to acquisition in December 2003. Focussing on the global Life Sciences market, CDC Solutions developed state-of-the-art document publishing solutions targeting the creation of new drug applications (NDAs) and the controlled viewing and printing of critical document sets. Working closely with industry leaders such as Adobe and Documentum, CDC Solutions built operations in Europe, the USA and Japan and became the market leader in its chosen sectors. During his 10 year tenure at CDC Solutions, Jim was instrumental in driving the company strategy, setting product direction and managing investor relations.

Prior to CDC Solutions, he spent 4 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers Kinesis working in diverse areas including a large geographic information system for a water company and an emergency procedures database for an electricity company. Later Jim's responsibilities extended to the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences sectors where he led a series of document management and publishing initiatives, including advanced submission publishing systems based on Documentum and Adobe's PDF.

In 2004, Jim founded Volutio recognising that high tech businesses needed specialist independent advice in their strategy, business and marketing planning processes.

He is a Chartered Engineer and gained a Bachelor of Science degree, with honours, in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, England.
